Fished Carsington twice this week Wednesday and on a match Sunday.
Both days were calm and sunny and fishing was hard until the fish which were tightly shoaled were found, mostly deep using sinking lines. Caught 6 and 10 fish including a good brownie of 3lb+
Interestingly the fishery record has been broken and the new record equalled this week at 7lb 4oz. However most interesting part of the trips was watching Richard Oldfield a Carsington Fly Fisher attempt and almost successfully land a 20lb + pike on fly gear. Richard had the fishes head in his undersized net but the pike slipped out went round the anchor and broke his line after a lengthy battle.
Richard had previously taken a 16lb pike on fly tackle from the same point of the dam wall
I managed to get a photo showing Richard with a slight bend in his rod! while boat partner Alan Wilton contemplates getting a bigger boat!

Someone also had an 8lb 14oz fish the same day and was so sure he'd got the record only to find that it had been smashed by the 9lb 6oz'er
